- a good wrap for genie!!!!
I bought my genie (wide-mouth opening) from
a thrift shop due too many of the bad reviews
I had read at this site so that if I was out
money it wouldn't be much: But pleasently
to my surprize It works wonderfully. I even
managed to figure out how to use it without
the instructons. In order to get the best
useage of your genie these are a few things
to keep in mind....
1. before changing baby open the lid to the
genie 1st
2. lay dirty diaper & wipes on top of
genie
3. after changing baby put them in their crib
(to keep them
safe:and so you can wash your hands when your
done
handling dirty diapers)while you wrap diaper
& wipes then
push diaper into genie intil it griped by
the clamps then
twist at least twice.
I have to empty the genie at least once a
week(which should be done for sanatary reasons
anyway regardless of type of pail used)and
haven't had to deal w/ bad smells, good considering
I bought it 2nd hand. I find the refills to
be reasonablly priced (for my household anyway)depending
on how well I wrap the diapers dictates how
many refills I buy per month( for me it's
1 to 2). I would by buy this product again
even if I had to pay full price. PS I have
seen the new refills for toddler sz diapers
in a few department stores and will be using
those when my baby gets to that stage in the
game.

pail has it's limits!
I absolutely loved the Diaper Genie! It works
wonderfully. You just put in the diaper and
give it a twist or two and you diaper is gone
until you empty the unit. It was a little
tricky learning how the refill it, but once
you get the hang of it, it's pretty simple.
After my daughter started on stage 3 foods
and table food, there was a limitation to
how long I could leave diapers in the diaper
pail. It will start to smell. Plastic does
become porous. Any pail will. So I recommend
that you change the Genie every few days,
don't just wait until it gets full. If your
child has a stinky diaper everyday you can
pretty much figure when they go and should
probably start potty training. My daughter
was fully trained before she turned two. We
had fun learning how to go potty and wearing
favorite underwear. You cannot rely on any
diaper pail to indefinitely hold in odors.
Just read the directions and keep the thing
clean and fresh. You shouldn't have any problems.

- The greatest invention since disposable
diapers
No more diaper stink! The Diaper Genie is
a hands-down necessity if you're using disposables.
Open the lid, insert dirty diaper into the
scented plastic liner, twist the inner lid
a few times and the Diaper Genie converts
your stinky mess into a neat package - all
rolled up like a string of sausages. When
the Diaper Genie is full, you simply cut the
liner (cutter included), tie a knot, close
the lid, then remove the full "sausage" from
the bottom. It takes more time to describe
than to actually do it. Everyone I know who
has a Diaper Genie absolutely loves it.
One thing to watch out for - it seems like
Playtex has a production/manufacturing problem,
because about half of the people I know
who have a DG have had to return one due
to faulty cutters or other problems. **
If you get one that doesn't seem to work,
take it back and get another one. It's worth
the extra trip, honest.
